You've probably heard this "Bible quote" before.
But what does the Bible actually say?
Plot Twist: The Bible doesn't actually say that.
The Bible actually says, "the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil." - 1 Timothy 6:10
That's a pretty big difference.
The Bible doesn't teach that money itself is evil.
It warns about what can happen when our relationship with money takes over our hearts.
So why do we say it?

because some things sound true, even though they're not. 

Common sayings sound "true" enough that we've never stopped to question them. We've inherited them. Repeated them. Maybe even built beliefs around them.
But sounding biblical and being biblically sound aren't always the same thing.

Ok, so what about these? 

"Forgiving is forgetting." BIBLICAL?
NOT QUITE.
"The family that prays together stays together." BIBLICAL?
NOT A VERSE.
"God helps those who help themselves." BIBLICAL?
NOPE.
If we've been wrong about these… what else have we been wrong about?
Christianity comes with a lot of phrases, assumptions, traditions, and things we've heard so many times that they start to sound like Scripture. But what happens when we actually check? That's what we're doing in this series.

Sounds Biblical or

We're taking some of the most familiar “Christian” sayings and putting them to the test. Not against what we've always heard. Against what the Bible actually says. You don't have to already believe. You don't have to know the Bible. You don't have to agree with us. You don't have to call yourself a Christian. You can come with questions.
