Communications director (Full Time)

Position Summary
The Communications Director is responsible for developing and executing strategies to effectively communicate Metro Community Church's mission, events, and initiatives. This role plays a key part in shaping how people experience Metro, both online and in person, through clear, compelling, and strategic communication.
This position is highly collaborative and execution-focused, working closely with ministry leaders, the Creative Team, and church leadership to ensure alignment, excellence, and effectiveness in all communication efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Strategy
  • Develop and implement church-wide marketing and communication strategies
  • Create promotion plans for events, ministries, and major initiatives
  • Evaluate effectiveness using metrics such as email engagement, social media growth, and reach
  • Maintain and protect Metro’s brand across all platforms

Project Management
  • Project manage all marketing initiatives with a minimum 6-week lead time
  • Ensure all creative assets (graphics, video, communications) are completed at least one week prior to use
  • Communicate marketing plans clearly to stakeholders, especially for major events (Christmas, Easter, etc.)

Digital & Social Media
  • Build and execute a weekly social media content calendar
  • Grow engagement and reach across digital platforms
  • Help shape Metro’s online voice and presence
  • Manage church website, app and other digital assets

Creative Collaboration
  • Participate in Creative Team meetings with ideas and input
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and Lead Pastor on series graphics and service elements

Events & Weekend Experience
  • Support the planning and execution of major church events
  • Coordinate communication and logistics with key departments and campuses
  • Assist in shaping the look and feel of environments (lobby, signage, etc.)
  • Coordinate with outsourced graphic design company the execution of series branding, church branding and individual ministry branding

Systems & Organization
  • Build and improve communication systems and workflows
  • Ensure clear timelines, expectations, and follow-through across projects

Spiritual & Cultural Expectations
  • Maintain a growing personal relationship with Jesus
  • Create consistent rhythms for prayer, Scripture, and spiritual development
  • Contribute positively to staff culture by:
